Magnetism and high Tc superconductors

The magnetic properties of the copper oxide planes in hight T~ superconductors are represented by a planar 2-d antiferromagnet on a square lattice. We model the magnetic effect of the addition of holes through doping by the replacement of antiferromagnetic with ferromagnetic plaquettes thereby facilitating the creation of vorticeslantivortices. These magnetic

Electron Pairing in High-Tc Superconductors

In high-Tc cuprate superconductors, the pairing state of electrons is still spin-singlet, as in conventional BCS superconductors. But the orbital part of the wavefunction, order parameter or gap function, has a dx2−y2 symmetry, rather than the isotropic s-wave symmetry. This exotic symmetry has been confirmed by various experiments, especially the phase-sensitive ones. But the underlying mechan...

Spin dynamics in high-TC superconductors

Key features of antiferromagnetic dynamical correlations in highTC superconductors cuprates are discussed. In underdoped regime, the sharp resonance peak, occuring exclusively in the SC state, is accompanied by a broader contribution located around ∼ 30 meV which remains above TC . Their interplay may induce incommensurate structure in the superconducting state.

Oxygen Disorder Effects in High Tc Superconductors

It is now well established that oxygen plays a crucial role in the structural, magnetic and transport properties of high Tc materials. We present here a brief review of the effect of the oxygen deficiency and vacancy ordering on the superconducting and magnetic properties of various superconductors.

Magnetic resonant excitations in High-Tc superconductors

More than fifteen years after the high temperature superconductivity discovery, antiferromagnetic (AF) fluctuations pairing mechanism[1] is still highly controversial. However, inelastic neutron scattering (INS) measurements have successfully brought to light the existence of unusual AF excitations that develop below Tc and could be the hallmark of an unexpected spin-1 collective mode, tightly ...
